Hiking Stiletto Park part 2. This area was burned pretty extensively in the past few years and it shows. With the trees dead other plants have an opportunity to grow in the plentiful light. You can see how fireweed got its name-- it's one of the first colonizers of burned areas. Those white things there are spittle bugs--little leaf hoppers that enclose themselves in a wad of vile tasting spittle to keep from being eaten. #PNW #hiking #getoutside #mountains
