I have returned to civilization (I was at camp), my throat is raw from shouting at unruly children to 1. Stop running on wet rocks and 2. Shut up and listen to instructions (shouting at shouting children to stop shouting, the irony).
I hate camping. 0/10. I will of course be returning next year. I always do.
The 9 year olds I took camping as a teenager are now teenagers themselves. They are doing the important stuff and technically outrank me (at camp once you hit 24 you become an "old" and retire to background duties), but they are still one of "my" children to me. I still worry if they have eaten enough, if they are sleeping enough. I worry that the other (actual) children are being nice to them, and I worry if they are not constipated (sounds weird but it's a real problem).
Anyway, we came back safe and I'm going to the grownups only (!) girls only (!) after camp fireworks party (aka the best best part of camp actually) this weekend 👯 🎇
