Good point on the security. I will have to look into that further. What is (too) insecure is also a question of your threat model and risk evaluation.
GrapheneOS undoubtedly take security very serious, but to the extent that they will lockstep their support to Google's hardware end of support date. That means you will still have to get an expensive new phone to get a decent time of use whereas my Linux devices are safe enough on wildly outdated and unsupported hardware.
