Cutting trees is a very bad thing to do because when they're supplied enough moisture, that moisture is carried throughout the tree and they'll better perform as a fire barrier when they're properly vascular. The problem with trees feeding fires is that they're dried out by drought first. Everybody who has a fireplace or works with campfires KNOWS that wet wood doesn't burn.
