Any system of control will eventually be used to oppress. The foundation of policing is property protection. Even the best of intentions are bound to be ground down by such a racket. Nevertheless, we have cops for a reason, the same reason we have prisons. There are some situations which call for them. Should we be filling prisons with shoplifters and addicts? Absolutely not. Anarchists can say ACAB and still acknowledge the utility of a cop in a given situation.
