The reason competition between firms is necessary is because there is no way to enforce the firms doing a good job without having other people working on similar projects to compare to. It also prevents mismanagement.
I also think you’re straw manning pro-capitalists. Most centrists support capitalism on #utilitarian or individual rights based grounds. These ethics aren’t rooted in flawed analogies to Darwinian evolution.
