I was a kid living in Dillon, Montana, and we woke up to ash all over the place... it was amazing how far it traveled. I visited Mount St. Helens twice when I lived in Washington between 2000 and 2004 and it was amazing how desolate some of the hills surrounding it still were... dead trees everywhere, and half of Spirit Lake still filled with dead trees.
