If the identification works I’d love to release the service and have all instances add to a central block list.

But I have the strong feeling that a shared block list will simply end in abuse. Crawlers honoring robots.txt will be blocked by people adding them to the list because they disagree with the company owning the crawler.

Basically the fate of any shared block list with random people being able to add entries to. :/
