so something I've thought about -
Open source "democratized" the ability to write software - you don't need commercial compilers. It opened up the space for more people. Sort of like our 8 bit machines that just started with "READY"
AI is closing that ecosystem back down. "Thought leaders" and CEOs are pushing the use of AI agents, which cost money to use - it's a form of gatekeeping.
ugh this isn't a fully formed thought but it's something that's bothering me greatly.
