I was referring to Chris saying hope so.
I generally agree with what you said but the civic potential is revolutionary. Glimpsed in the early days of Twitter and some remember. Fedi takes that farther.
But imo people do instead think of it in the way you're saying but lots of people are now getting those needs met with text chains or groups.
We need messaging that clarifies all this. People treat civics differently than hanging with friends. We need people to think about that.
