examples of entry-level issues i come across: not being able to divide a number in half; unable to declare a variable properly; not knowing difference between parenthesis and semi-colon and curly brackets. This is before we get to the basic challenges of understanding coding logic. I was working with a student today in office hours that could not program without me saying exactly what to do. This happens more and more. I don't want to kick anyone out. I don't believe programming is above my students' abilities. I don't know how to support students that aren't retaining any info.
