The problem that Keir Starmer (as other challenged leaders always have) is when they commit to future actions that their critics have demanded previously, the Q. is always 'if you believed this was the way to go, why didn't you do it before?'.
While of course political pressure is intended to change politicians' direction, the suspicion must be when they commit to change under pressure that such a commitment will be jettisoned once things quiet down... and here Starmer has form.
