Nani gives up Lilo at the end??? NANI. GIVES UP. LILO???

Uhmm.

So, for anyone that doesn't know, the whole point of the social worker plot in Lilo & Stitch is an allegory for colonialism and how the US government would break up indigenous families and put their children with white families or into white institutions. Even though Disney removed [the best scene about it](https://youtube.com/watch?v=7L2ZY9UFj60 ) in the original, the movie is deeply rooted in anti-colonialist themes and messaging.

In the live action remake, Nani agrees with the state, gives up Lilo, and moves to the mainland in order to go to college.

:)

Are you fucking--

"Ohana means family and family means lmao cya next Tuesday ya lil brat I'm off to the mainland because colonialism is great hell *fuckin* YEAH."

How is that not considered *deeply* offensive??? :neodog_what: The live action remake normally spark a sort of negative indifference in me, but between the erasure of Pleakley as a queer icon and the pro-colonialist messaging, this one is pissing me right the fuck off. Right-wing imperialistic propaganda bullshit. :blobfoxtableflip:
