The kind of variant design my friend and I are interested in exploring goes far beyond the concepts in this configurable ruleset. We're interested in changing the conditions that govern what cells can contain, and how they can pile. We're interested in having multiple decks to draw from. And the current implementation, while educational, is in my opinion a little too bloated and inflexible.
I feel like there's a simpler approach that can lean on powerful things, like string matching or some kind of... rewrite rules.
