On a good day, I would call neoliberalism a religion. I think "cult" is more accurate when I'm feeling less charitable.

They created models obviously untethered from reality that they believe with such conviction to be willing to literally topple countries to test out. It's based on ideologic conviction despite the evidence against it and is still taught, almost like doctrine, in most principles classes.

Neoliberalism is not just a religion, it's a powerful one.
