Like so many UK organisations the NHS spends far too little on training senior managers (often having what is termed 'accidental managers'), has too much churn & too many vacancies in senior management posts, and seems to have tried to make up for this by employing management consultants (albeit a slowly declining trend).
The NHS is a complex & challenging organisation that needs competent & professional management, but like so many other sectors, too often doesn't!
