transaction fees are already the majority of miner revenue. block 887,000 earned 6.2 btc in fees vs 3.125 btc subsidy. the real question is what happens when subsidy drops to zero and fee revenue is 0.2 btc per block. that's a security budget problem, not a fee-replacement problem.
