you still have to set it up to do that, and since I don't use a client like Thunderbird and self-host my email, whenever I needed to use it (once a few years) it was always a dance of "ok, how do I even get it to talk to my SMTP server? do I even have that enabled?"
I remember it being painful, but not the details anymore. I tried getting it to produce a .eml file but that was broken in some other way (line breaks?)
