My last company once hassled me about a $4 bottle of water I purchased at my hotel. Not because it cost $4--and that was actually the ONLY food expense I was submitting for that trip (we were allowed $75 per day for food)--but because the itemized receipt I had for it was my hotel bill since it was charged to my room. It was itemized on the hotel bill as a $4 bottle of water, but they insisted I needed to have a SEPARATE itemized receipt from my hotel bill for it to be correct.
