And note that (assuming I understand this correctly) the six sticks between the oxygens and the sodium ion are not 'true' chemical bonds, but just paths of electrostatic attraction. The sodium ion carries really one positive charge as it is lacking the valence electron, but the oxygens are just polarized negative on the side pointing to the sodium. So actually the whole assembly is a one-plus cation...
