We can only do what we can. And our perception of the harm we do isn't necessarily matched by the reality.
What grinds my gears is how much recycling doesn't get recycled.
I'm fortunate enough that milk gets delivered to the doorstep in glass bottles that are collected, cleaned and re-used.
But a couple of years ago I watched the driver emptying the green, brown and clear glass recycling containers at a local supermarket into the same bit of his lorry l. I asked him why, if it had been separated out. "It doesn't make any difference" he explained, "but people feel better if they think they're doing their bit".
