I’ve long seen “serverless” functions as a race to the lightest container tech. The architecture for playing to the strengths of functions was also the architecture for avoiding their weaknesses but the whole time was pushing container tech lighter weight and faster. The innovation in that space pushed all container tech and you are starting to see what used to be “serverless” now has fewer of the weaknesses and the technical border between architectures disappearing.
