It bugs me that the public image of autism always seems to be a privileged white guy who didn't have to learn to think about others because that's not in the standard white male curriculum.

Like, I think the image of "lack of empathy" in autistic people has a good deal to do with how white men are trained to think about themselves & then how that manifests.
