Carrie the movie just turned Carrie the story into horror and Carrie the person into a scary villain. Maybe a relatable one, but still the stuff of nightmares. She wasn't. The world was the nightmare she was merely reacting to it. That seemed lost in the film. It was a good horror, it was not a good Carrie.
Carrie the series seems to address that if the last few minutes are anything to go by.
