These men know that they have the backing of the government. The government brought them here and is using our money to house and feed them. They have come here with the express purpose of exploiting this country for what they can get out of it and no intention of contributing. They do not respond with gratitude; they think we are weak and have no problem demanding more.
They enjoy a special privilege. They are not bound by our laws but they are protected by them. They can commit crimes safe in the knowledge that they will be exonerated because of their special status. We know that we are no longer protected by our country's laws, but are bound by them, so complaining will see us punished harshly.
We are in a dangerous place now. People have lost faith in the processes and institutions that used to bind and protect us all equally because we have seen time and again that these institutions are broken. This cannot be accidental. Once people lose faith in due process, they will eventually seek justice on their terms and it will not be pretty. History has shown this time and again.
I can't call it with any degree of certainty, but if this happens then we will either have vigilante mobs or martial law. What we really need to know is who is paying (with cash, favours or both) our politicians to do this and to what purpose. We know the politicians didn't think any of this up because we see every day just how stupid they are. Stupid, but venal. I wonder what the desired outcome is beyond just destroying a country.
What will happen to men like this one once this has happened? They may survive vigilante action, but many come from societies where this is common and may have an advantage. They will be protected during martial law, or even be recruited as an army, but once the job is done be just as expendable as the rest of us.
