It seemed like a pretty good idea at the time to set up a jar where if the kids were ready for school on time, they could each earn a star for the jar and once it was full there could be a reward. It was effective, one of my better plans.

And it seemed like a good idea at the time to pitch possible rewards as a group so the kids could have a say in what they'd get.

But perhaps what wasn't such a good idea was blurting out "ice cream dinner"
