Way fewer people should own their own homes, and there should be no tax advantages or government backed mortgages or mortgage insurance or flood insurance for it. NIMBYs are in no small part a creation of people obsessed with their property value because their home is their largest chunk of their net worth. I would slap anyone who said they were going to take out 6+ figures of debt to purchase any one specific real estate investment. But because it's a home, somehow it's celebrated as Peak Adulthood.
Leave real estate speculation to those who are fine with losing it all.
