we have that in Germany also! Along with all the other recycling. We also have "wertstoff" (valuable materials = recyclables) and "reststoff" (the rest of it) bags for pickup.
In addition there's a deposit system for glass and plastic bottles for refilling or recycling at most stores.

Some idiot keeps putting plastic bags in our bio (compost) bin though. Presumably they're "biodegradable" (in the lab, to microplastics) and it's just ignorance.
