According to the "we have to win over Republicans" people, Chuck Schumer "should" be waaaaay less threatening to those voters than Bernie is.
The theory is that people who vote Republican will feel more comfortable with the Chuck Schumers of the world. But they clearly aren't.
They see Schumer & (correctly) clock him as a self-interested fraud. But some of them see Sanders or Mamdani & actually find them likable & believable.
