Well...maybe I'm not kidding, because things look pretty bad, but I hold no ill will, how's that.
I always thought Brave New World was the scariest in mainstream literature (not counting e.g. science fiction), because it is structured so as to seem paradisical to most of its inhabitants / possible critics, and yet certain aspects are strongly dystopian.
