On how Western legacy media (BBC, The New York Times, The Guardian, Reuters, France 24, etc.) violated core journalistic principles of truth, context, and independence in their coverage of Israel's genocide in Gaza, creating the post-truth environment that dehumanizes Palestinians and reinforces the power asymmetries. A radical transformation of media ethics in conflict reporting is urgently needed.
Case studies used:
(1) the spread of unverified claims like "40 decapitated babies" and weaponized sexual violence allegations that were later debunked by Israeli officials themselves;
(2) systematic decontextualization that frames October 7 as the starting point while erasing 75+ years of occupation, apartheid, and siege; and
(3) surrender of editorial independence to Israeli military censorship, embedded reporting with the IDF, and pre-publication approval requirements.
