This is not new. It's been long held that GENETIC diversity causes social unrest.
Genetic is an objective concept while ethnicity is very loosely defined. The emphasis on genetic highlights many African countries where there is a high genetic diversity and high social unrest.
But this correlation is not linear. Up till a certain point genetic diversity contributes to society. I don't remember the exact number, I think it's around 10%
