simplistic answer: when you're proud to be a normie and you want all non-normies to stop existing because you're nostalgic about a time when non-normies weren't visible
serious answer: it's a combo of 3 things
1. national pride: "we used to be a great nation"
2. national decline: "our nation is being ruined by degeneracy"
3. national rebirth: "the way to restore our nation to greatness is to purge the degenerates"
it's basically an obsession with purity and a tendency to scapegoat. the whole left-right thing is not a useful way to model the world (there's way more than just 2 "sides"), and nationalism on its own doesn't really imply anything about what you want that nation to look like. but the way this presents in the "AI" space is that a lot of them believe they are building the thing that will end all world problems and that anyone opposed to this in any way must be literally the antichrist. it is of the utmost importance to insert their "AI" into anything and everything because they have already invested so much into making it happen that they can't stop now.
i don't have a problem with what tools people use to do things, i care a lot more about what people are doing with the tools. and a lot of the usage is just *dumb*, really -- people turn their brain off and let the machine "think" for them as if it was a person. total epistemic failure
