This indicates no followers are lost, it's just a bug with counting them. It might be a Mastodon bug, we are running an experimental test version v4.4.0-alpha.1+mementomods-2024-11-09, last updated about two weeks ago. I could upgrade to the newest daily over the weekend and see if it fixes it.
