So I guess the identity based solution is the only one that works for you, I suggest you check Sideband and the reticulum network, the UX is not that great but its good enough for me, and there is no need to route anything throu Tor but you can route thru i2p they have support for that. and you won't be banned because its literally impossible. I still havent managed to see if they were able to added group chats but then that will just copy all other apps and just be another instance of the same thing instead of the unique exprience that it has rn. I agree about the simplex issue you brought, thats a good point.
but also rust is gay, if someone made unsafe code it's on them not on the lang, just like how someone might not form proper english phrases (like me lol).
