Heck, Valve did just that with the $399 Steam Deck (they literally called that price point "painful but important") and I think it was a factor in getting people to buy it.

That's the beautiful thing about competition; if one company sits on their laurels too long, they're going to get behind in more ways than one.

We saw this with Intel and AMD back in the early to mid 2010s and now we're seeing it here with Nintendo vs Valve.
