I have to sell people websites as part of the development process, but trying to "sell" people on participating in yet another online platform is something I've been doing for years - I want to communicate with my irl friends but not from a disempowered position.

Nostr is just a piece of technology. It's an important one, but we don't go around trying to convince people to use an app because it's built with Django. People also don't seem to care about censorship or autonomy as much as they care about convenience - but nostr *is* very convenient. Being able to generate a keypair and participate is huge.
