One of the most disgusting aspects of the okanagan fruit industry (twenty years ago but I assume it hasn't changed) was the realization that Okanagan Fruit was packed and shipped to warehouses hundreds to thousands of miles away.... and THEN "distributed" from these hubs to grocery stores....
This meant that some BC apples that were picked literally a few miles from a store were trucked far far far away and then back to the local grocery store....
Unbelievable.
