Discovered - and fixed - an issue today. It turns out that some email services will a) follow all links in an email; b) will then follow all links on those web pages as well.
So, some people have found themselves unsubscribed from the newsletter, because our unsubscribe link led them to a page which contained a link saying “if you’re sure, click this”, and a helpful bot did both.
Now, it’s a form (post) on the website. I’m told that bots that check emails don’t submit POST forms.
Email is such a mess.
