I’m a socialist but not a revolutionary; I work from the premise that we need to make effective change within our systems for as long as they exist. How can we best achieve that? What is *possible* to do? How can we change what is possible?

At the national level, the answer is “damage control” until we have better local politics. Eg in Canada not have seven of ten premiers be conservatives, and five of those seven quite extreme conservatives.
