I tire of the everything box

I crave the tactile

buttons should feel like buttons

not fingers on glass

the only thing it does right is letting me adjust the volume without looking

remember buttons?

remember owning something and knowing it so intimately that you could identify each button, each knob, each switch, from touch alone?

I love my film SLR

every button, every switch, every dial has a purpose

I can adjust the exposure compensation without looking because It’s a physical knob with click stops

same for the aperture ring on the lens

same for every single aspect of it

every function is a distinct mechanical part with its own feel

I could probably load film into it blind if I needed

maybe I’ll try that sometime
