It is not a failure of #bitcoin nor a technical failure per se. It is likely the combination of several complex factors: (i) all infrastructure is systematically destroyed by Israel bombings. Internet connections are very much disrupted and obviously targeted by Israel. (ii) on the other side Hamas has certainly available satellite internet connections which they use for their own military purposes and I doubt they are made available to the population at large (iii) certainly Israelis are also targeting known wallets belonging to Gazans and pressure exchanges to blacklist them which makes the conversion into stablecoins or cash into bank accounts outside Gaza also impossible (iv) what is left is Lightning or Monero if they are accepted and considering the limitations of internet connection availability, but generally even considering the very harsh conditions over there it should be possible to use effectively both Lightning and Monero as some have pointed out in this chat. It would be interesting to hear more about personal experiences of people who have tried to send both #bitcoin via Lightning or #Monero to help the people starving over there.
