unfortunately the fantasy breaks down because the world of Eclipse Phase is *dangerous* so even just me visiting would be reckless, I would have to hide any tech I brought back, and I couldn't use any of it to help our world or even just my friends because it's all a potential x-risk if it's discovered. why does my brain ruin everything?

(thankfully Greg Egan's Diaspora is like Eclipse Phase minus all of the bad parts. he just doesn't go into detail about robot bodies or cool mods)
