Holidaying at my grandmothers in north Qld at primary school age.
The outdoor dunny had a large gap under the door, old newspapers for toilet paper & a shovel beside the seat, so if a snake came under the door you could cut it’s head off with the shovel.
Bath was similar. It was in a newer addition to the house, with short doors again & it’s own snake killer shovel.
