As we wait for next weeks GDP data to drop (or perhaps we don't) Bloomberg is reporting (I have this second hadn't via LinkedIn, I'm not a Bloomberg subscriber) that people at the Bank of England doubt the veracity of the data (even on its own merits);
so we now seem to have the situation where the Office of National Statistics seems unable to produce data that convinces its neighbouring institutions.
The notion of the economy 'flying blind' will be becoming more common...
