A bunch of Europeans gathered and divided Africa among them and divided it into numerous smaller countries to separate tribes & prevent their coming together to attack. Divide & Conquer.
I guess I thought Europeans colonized pre-existing African countries and changed their names & stuff.
They did the same with the Ottoman Empire, making an absolute mess of everything to this day everywhere.
