while I am very critical of Bluesky (the blobgpost right before the one you link to deals with that), I don't "losing people to Bluesky" is that much of a problem. At least not in the same sense as having a single gigantic instance in the middle of fedi is a problem.

That's a longer conversation, but tl;dr is I don't see Bluesky as a potentially existential threat to fedi. But I could see mastodon.social becoming such an existential threat, the way identi.ca turned out to be for StatusNet.
