*Beyond Good and Evil*, anyone? I know, that's the easy mode of preferred Ubisoft publications from that era, but it's hard not to do an Ubisoft retrospective without *that* one in particular, as I know that every time a BG&E2 announcement drops we typically hold our breath waiting for the 'well, we were just joking' shoe to drop, in vain hopes that *this* time they might actually mean it.
Also, I guess I don't *hate* open world and crafting mechanics, but it really feels like they're not in service to a larger gameplay: they *are* the gameplay, and everything else falls second to that, including story. And of course, yes, *entirely* overdone. Just like 'roguelite' card-based games these days...
