What makes me the most sad is that the bible tells them what to do and they don't follow it.

What it says is that to avoid the second death, you have to repent from your sins.

To do that you have to be aware of your sins, be sorry about it, and stop doing it.

That is the instructions. But clearly, not a lot of people do that, and certainly not those who go to church.
