I can't help but see contradictions here. "The church doesn't determine Scripture's authority" (true in theory) but "The church recognizes Scripture" (true in practice, but that recognition is a form of authority? Especially it's determining canon that we then recognize?).
Scripture is God's word, but we both trust an authority to recognize what is and isn't canon, right?
imo the 2+2=4 analogy fails because that's verifiable math. Many different churches have various canon. Whereas math is the same for everyone. If Scripture's divine status were as obvious as math, there wouldn't be disagreement, right?
